Mayo Surgical Associates is staffed by general surgeon Abhijit Shaligram, M.D., otolaryngologist Brian Miller, M.D., FACS, and urologist Ahmad Abed Elnoor, M.D. The practice is located in the Medical Office Building on the campus of Mayo Regional Hospital.
General surgery:
General surgeons manage a broad spectrum of surgical conditions affecting many areas
of the body. Breast, hernia, gall bladder and bowel surgeries are common procedures,
and a variety of diagnostic techniques are employed, including endoscopy.
Urology
Urologists are physicians who specialize in the branch of medicine concerned with the urinary tract in both sexes and the genital tract in males. Urologists are trained to manage benign and malignant medical and surgical disorders of the adrenal gland and the genitourinary system. Dr. Abed Elnoor performs a variety of clinical urological procedures in the office setting, as well as a full range of endoscopic, laparoscopic and open surgery procedures in the operating rooms at Mayo, Millinocket Regional Hospital and Penobscot Valley Hospital in Lincoln.
Urological surgical services will include penile, scrotal, kidney and ureter, and bladder and prostate procedures.
Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose and Throat--head and neck surgery)
Otolaryngologists are physicians who provide comprehensive medical and surgical care for patients with diseases and
disorders that affect the ears, the respiratory and upper alimentary systems and related structures, and the head
and neck in general. Facial plastic and reconstructive surgery are other areas of expertise.
Typical medical conditions treated by ENT specialists include removal of the adenoids and tonsils, nosebleeds, earaches, hearing loss and disorders, dizziness, balance disorders, disorders of the outer and inner ear, disorders of the nasal cavity, hoarseness, diseases of the larynx (voice box) and esophagus, including swallowing. Otolaryngologists also deal with the chemical senses and allergies, and the communication sciences, including audiology and speech-language pathology.
Dr. Miller provides surgical services at Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft, Millinocket Regional Hospital, and at Penobscot Valley Hospital in Lincoln.
