Piscataquis Public Health Council Volunteer Opportunities

At Piscataquis Public Health Council we realize that there are many reasons why people seek volunteer opportunities. This realization helps us to be more sensitive to the uniqueness of individuals and reap the harvest of their incredible potential. We also recognize that fitness and personal wellness are a top consideration. Getting and keeping fit should be part of everyday thinking.

Most of all we have fun while we work! We have opportunities to work in groups or independently. We offer challenging work, prospects for growth and development, areas for achievement, and recognition for accomplishments.

Some of our exciting projects where you can make a difference include:

  • Only have one day to help? The PPHC will work with you to fit your talents to a project that you can enjoy and increase the quality of life in your community.

  • Choose to be healthy! Join our school & community partnership that is working to increase physical activity and good nutrition, and to reduce tobacco use.

  • Want to work with Youth? We have lots of projects and activities involving students in our area.

  • Join one of our many task forces! The PPHC can match you with a task force that matches your interests.
Check out these reasons many people choose to become volunteers and see if they apply to you.

  • Want to help. We know that people make a difference, need to feel useful and enjoy the work.

  • Feel indebted to a cause or program because it helped a friend or family member. You can choose to help those you care about or promote an activity from which you previously benefited.

  • Want publicity.

  • Want to learn new skills. People are moving to more entrepreneurial work and developing their own businesses. Are you retired with skills that could benefit someone else?

  • Want to gain experience in public speaking or clerical duties. People desire to grow and build a reserve of learning that might be applied anywhere in life…even in jobs outside of volunteering.

  • Visibility in your work place or assigned by the employer.

  • Build a resume for future work. A high value is placed on education.

  • Fear of a disease or health condition and a desire to work to help eliminate it.

  • Religious commitment.

  • Need to socialize. Do you have free time or feel unfulfilled?

  • Complete a sense of duty to a family tradition, company, or foundation.

  • Desire to share an abundant life. People feel good when they feel their work helps others.
