Milo - In conjunction with local and area organizations, as well as private donations, the Elm Street Tennis Complex upgrade is complete. The court was closed most of August and reopened in September to rave revues. The project is the result of a true community collaborative with funds coming from private donations, MSAD #41, Three Rivers Kiwanis Club, Town of Milo, and a Grant from the Piscataquis Public Health Council. The Elm Street Complex is designated as a tobacco-free area with healthy options available at the snack bar. The Milo Recreation Department along with its many contributors want community members to be good role models for our youth and want to establish environments that are tobacco-free and offer healthy food choices, while providing a safe environment for individuals young and old to be physically active. The Piscataquis Public Health Council is one of 31 local Healthy Maine Partnerships, working on tobacco-prevention and control, physical activity and nutrition using tobacco settlement funds provided through the Fund for a Healthy Maine.
