Mission Statement
The Piscataquis Public Health Council is a coalition of community organizations, schools, and individuals that strive to develop an environment that supports a healthy life through education, prevention, advocacy, and services. Strategic Goals
  • Assure residents are empowered to make informed decisions and adopt behaviors that protect and enhance the health of individuals, families, communities, and the environment.
  • Enhance/initiate/promote services to underserved populations to secure health equity.
  • Initiate/strengthen partnerships and engage community members in the work of public health.
  • Incorporate evidence-based, state-of-the-art health practices in policies, programs, and services.
Essential Services
  • Monitor the health status of the population and the environment, and identify community health problems.
  • Diagnose and investigate health problems and health hazards in the community.
  • Inform, educate, and empower people about health issues.
  • Mobilize community partnerships to identify and solve health problems.
  • Develop policies and plans that support individual and community health efforts.
  • Enforce laws and regulations that protect health and ensure safety.
  • Link people to needed personal health services and assure the provision of health care when otherwise unavailable.
  • Assure a competent public health and personal health care workforce.
  • Evaluate effectiveness, accessibility, and quality of personal and population-based health services.
  • Research for new insights and innovative solutions to health problems.
