Piscataquis Public Health Council Meeting

Present: Renee Speh, Community Partnership Director; George Woods, YMCA Executive Director; Susan Crippen, North Country Healthy Communities; Tom Lizotte, Mayo Regional Hospital; Martin Puckett, Sangerville Town Manager; Jane Conroy, UMaine Cooperative Extension Service; Penny Kern, Abnaki Girl Scout Council; John Dirnbauer, SAD 68 Superintendent; Greg Bellemare, SAD 4 School Health Coordinator; Lisa Clark, Total Immersion Swim program.

The September PPHC meeting was not a standard business meeting but was designed as a celebration and networking opportunity for people who received PPHC minigrants and for members of school partnerships and youth advocates. Those attending shared their plans for promoting healthy activities in the Penquis region and commented on their minigrant efforts. Participants were encouraged to bring a healthy potluck dish to share, and the food was enjoyed by all.

The PPHC will resume its regular business meeting schedule on Wednesday, Oct. 23, from 1-3 p.m. at Mayo Regional Hospital.
