  • 1. Welcome and Introductions

  • 2. Update on Collaboratives:

    • a. Dawna Blackstone – Every 15 Minutes. Mayo Counseling Program held community forum and there is interest in providing this same program at Foxcroft Academy and at M.S.A.D. #4.

    • b. One Maine Grant – Each school superintendent should be receiving compiled data from the MYDAUS Survey within the next month.

    • c. Heartwise – promote signs and symptoms of Heart Attack and Stroke. Provided schools and worksites with message to be used in newsletters or as payroll stuffers. Was this helpful?

    • d. Piscataquis County Youth Overweight Collaborative – Statewide Recognition of our Efforts in Piscataquis County.

      • i. Presentation made in February to Maternal & Child Health Committee at Mayo Regional Hospital – invitation extended to Greenville, Corinth and Newport Physician Practices.

      • ii. Presentation made in February to HMP Project Directors on what we are doing in Piscataquis County.

      • iii. Presentation planned for May 13 for the Maine School Health Leadership Network in Augusta – superintendents from across Maine.

      • iv. Mayo promoting radio message around 5210 message March 1-18, 2005 on WDME.

      • v.Department of Education – Child Nutrition Programs in Public Schools and Institutions.

    • e. Mini-Grants – Expanded Opportunities for Collaboration.

  • 3. Office of Substance Abuse Funding Opportunities

  • 4. Tobacco Health Disparity Mini-Grant – Awarded to the Piscataquis Public Health Council – expand collaboration with Penquis CAP, Piscataquis Oral Health Coalition, OB/GYNs; targeting adults age 18-44 with particular focus of those adults of low socio-economic status and women of childbearing age.

  • 5. Healthy Maine Partnership Renewal - Community/Council Input Essential

    • a. Review current work plan

    • b. What do we want to add to the work plan for 2005-2006

    • c. What's been working well?

    • e. How can we support schools and community?

  • 6. Upcoming Events that PPHC will be represented at:

    • a. Smoking Cessation Workshop “Building a Personal Stop Smoking Plan” – scheduled for March 31 in the Resource Center at Mayo Regional Hospital.

    • b. Guilford Expo at PCHS in Guilford – April 1-2.

    • c. Kid's Health Day at the YMCA – April 2.

    • d. Guilford Grange Hall Health Fair – April 16.

    • e. Mayo Regional Hospital Health Fair – May 18

  • 7. Other Business

    • a. Mark Your Calendars:

      • i. Wednesday, June 22 from 1:00-3:00 p.m.

      • ii. Establish dates for 2005-2006 PPHC Meetings.

      • iii. Tentative State Site Visit, April 29th, exact time not known.
