MAYO REGIONAL HOSPITAL CALENDAR OF EVENTS

Thursday, May 8, 2008
Pet Abuse and Safe Havens - Womancare in partnership with the Linkage Project, Humane Society, Animal Welfare Program, and the Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence, is offering an educational workshop about the link between pet abuse and intimate partner violence, as well as creating a safe haven for pets. Learn how inter-agency communication and cross-training benefits our primary mission of protecting victims and preventing violence. Find out what resources already exist in your community and how to utilize them to help prevent and eliminate abuse in all its forms. By becoming informed, spreading the word and reporting suspected abuse, you can help stop violence against pets and people in your community. Please join us at Charlotte White Administrative Building on May 8, 2008 from 1 pm – 4 pm. Please call 564-8165 for more information or to RSVP.

Women & Wellness Workshop on Saturday, May 17 in Dexter, Time and location TBD
Womancare, Rape Response Services and Mayo Regional Hospital Counseling & Substance Abuse Program are pleased to offer an opportunity for women to connect and promote self-care. A light lunch will be provided to all participants. Remember that to help others, first you must take care of yourself! Childcare will be available if needed.

Mayo laboratory provides weekly Milo service
Mayo Regional Hospital's Laboratory will provide weekly service to the public at Milo Family Practice starting March 20.

A Mayo laboratory staff member will be at Milo every Thursday from 7-11 a.m. to draw blood samples from any patients in the Milo/Brownville area who have a valid doctor's order. The service is available to any patients, not just those associated with Milo Family Practice.

It is suggested that only patients who need fasting blood tests come to the new lab service prior to 8:30 a.m.

The new service is being offered as a pilot project to gauge demand in the Milo area. Satellite lab services are also offered by Mayo weekly in Dexter. The expansion to Milo is designed to increase access and reduce travel for patients.
