DOVER-FOXCROFT - David McDermott, M.D. has been appointed chairman of the Maine Medical Association's 29-member Executive Committee, and is in line to eventually move up to the association's presidency. It is common practice for the Executive Committee chair to progress to president-elect and then to MMA President over the next two years. A former president of Mayo Regional Hospital's medical staff, Dr. McDermott has served on the MMA's Executive Committee for the past two years. A family practice physician at Dover-Foxcroft Family Medicine since 1993, Dr. McDermott is also medical director of Mayo's Emergency Department. A board-certified physician since 1989, he recently passed his family practice recertification exam and has been recertified for an additional six-year period by the American Board of Family Practice. Dr. McDermott earned his medical degree from the University of Vermont. |
