DOVER-FOXCROFT - A non-competitive, three-mile walk fund-raiser is planned for Saturday, Oct. 6, to support the Heartwise cardiac rehabilitation program at Mayo Regional Hospital. Registration for the 17th annual Heartwise Walk for Life begins 9:30 a.m. Oct. 6 at the Piscataquis Regional YMCA, and the walk starts at 10 a.m. through the streets of Dover-Foxcroft. All Heartwise walkers will receive a gift. Anyone raising $25 or more in pledges also gets a T-shirt.
Last year's Walk for Life raised over $13,000, with those funds used to purchase exercise equipment and to provide scholarships for Heartwise patients. Heartwise provides a program of supervised exercise and educational group sessions for people with some type of heart or blood vessel disease.
