Tuesday, August 2, 2005 DOVER-FOXCROFT - The Hospital Administrative District 4 Board of Directors on July 27 authorized Mayo Regional Hospital administrators to execute a contract with the Sheridan Corporation of Fairfield for the construction of a new building to house Milo Family Practice. The 5,200-square-foot building will be the first project in the new Eastern Piscataquis Industrial Park, being developed jointly by the towns of Milo and Brownville on Route 11. Site preparation work is expected to start in mid-August and the building should be ready for use in four months. The 2.6-acre lot upon which the building will be located is being deeded to HAD 4 by the Town of Milo. A groundbreaking ceremony has been scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 25. The project is estimated to cost $657,000, not including expenditures for additional clinic equipment. Mayo has applied to the Maine Municipal Bond Bank for a $500,000, 20-year loan to finance the bulk of construction costs, and will pay for the rest of the project with hospital operating income. The new building will be modeled on the Bingham Area Health Center, which was also constructed by Sheridan. Mayo opened Milo Family Practice in 1999 in an existing building on Park Street, but the practice now has nearly 2,000 patients and has completely outgrown its available space. The practice is staffed by family physician Kathleen Thibault, D.O., pediatrician Gretchen Huot, M.D. and physician assistant Daniel Offret. |
