DOVER-FOXCROFT - Mayo Regional Hospital is adding another outpatient specialty clinic with the arrival of a rehabilitation and electrodiagnostic medicine service on Friday, July 29. Peter Arabadjis, M.D., M.A. is a board-certified physiatrist and medical director of the Maine Rehabilitation Center in Bangor. Dr. Arabadjis will be coming to Mayo's Physical Therapy department one Friday each month, with upcoming dates set for Aug. 19 and Sept. 16. He can be contacted at 973-8998. Dr. Arabadjis performs electrodiagnostic studies (EMGs) for the diagnosis of peripheral nerve injuries, including carpal tunnel syndrome and radiculopathies, and neuromuscular diseases including neuropathies and myopathies. He has additional certification in both electrodiagnostic studies and pain management. In the new clinic, Dr. Arabadjis will perform consultations for the treatment of disabling illnesses focusing on spasticity, appropriate use of orthoses and assistive devices and focused prescription of therapy. He also evaluates musculoskeletal injuries, including workmen's compensation cases, for functional limitations with a focus of early management preventing recurrent injury, chronic pain and disability. Dr. Arabadjis grew up in Syracuse, N.Y. and completed his undergraduate training and Master's in Exercise Physiology at State University of New York, Buffalo. He attended medical school at SUNY-Syracuse, and residency training in Rehabilitation Medicine at Northwestern University's Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. He has lived in Orono for the last eight years with his wife, Lisa Buck, a family physician, and two children. |
